Highfield have had two rowers for just a few months and the whole thing has really taken off. There is a group of 20 pupils coming in as early as 7:30am in the morning to row these are pupils that do not take part in clubs or teams. During lesson time the rowers are moved to the sports hall where during say gymnastics each child gets to row a certain distance as well as taking part in the timetabled lesson - they record their distances. Others are rowing in teams and working out how far they need to row in order to complete the distance set etc - so good math's links.

Also used in GCSE lessons to prove the point about long levers etc. - the kids have produced fantastic graphs to illustrate this.

They are purchasing a portacabin just in order to house the rowers as it is so successful and the caretaker rows every evening and has lost half a stone in weight!
