On Tuesday 23rd January 2007 the Nottingham School Sport Partnership held its first City Indoor Rowing Championships for primary school children. The year 6 competition was a huge success and combined tuition on rowing technique and how to use the indoor rower safely with fun games, pairs and team relay races. Sports Leaders from Farnborough Technology College acted as coaches and team leaders for the entire competition. All of the pupils had a great time and improved their technique considerably. After some very close and exciting races, Riverside Primary School emerged as worthy champions, winning by only two metres from Milford Primary School. Several schools have now asked for more opportunities to use the Indoor Rowers in and outside curriculum time and another competition is already in the pipeline.
