Pupils were chosen for the event because of the fantastic effort and attitude they have shown during PE, lunch time and after school club sessions. In the short time leading up to the championship squad members attended training sessions at lunch times.

We had funding for the entry fees provided by the Schools Sport Partnership; this allowed our pupils to access the championships free of charge! This enabled our pupils to take part in a fantastic event. All the pupils, staff and parents really enjoyed the event - everyone returned home exhausted from either rowing, cheering or assisting during the hectic team relay events.

Many of the pupils went on to record their best times so far! Redwoods Sport Coordinator - David Butterworth said "It was great to see our Pupils competing so creditably in such a high class event. The effort our children made was noted by all who attended - every race we took part in received a special cheer. This culminated in us receiving a special award at the closing presentation in recognition of our pupils outstanding effort and performance. We were presented our medal by no less than Anna Bailey - world champion in the events such as 1000k".

Garry Smith - Redwoods PE and Healthy Lifestyles Coordinator reflected on his pupils success by adding "I have never seen a group of pupils work so hard. They have been a great credit to Redwood School, their staff, parents and of course themselves!".

The pupils took part in the following events:
