The Rolling Base project in Barnet, north London is a fantastic example of how you can use indoor rowing imaginatively to capture young people's attention and show them that they can get active in some different and exciting ways. The Barnet competition team and their colleagues saw the opportunity and worked to make it happen; and when you watch this short film (made by the kids themselves) you will see the smiles they created for over 1000 young people.

Gareth Mitchell, Project Coordinator said "The activity was a major success and the young people's reaction to the machines was amazing. As a result of this we will be seeking funding to purchase some rowing machines in order to continue the activity as it has clearly made a positive effect."

Barnet Community Transport is an independent charity, which is the home of The Rolling Base Family of vehicles. These mobile facilities bring fun, healthy play and sporting activities to areas where youth provision is overstretched or limited. This innovative approach has proved very popular with both young people and the wider community, as it provides such a positive outlet for their youthful energy and enthusiasm.
