Many swimmers can overdevelop certain muscles when engaging in their sport of choice, which is why they must look to other methods of exercise to keep themselves balanced, it is recommended.
Speaking to Competitor magazine, professional triathlete Sara McLarty detailed how a number of people who love swimming must use a rowing machine in order to keep their shoulders in top condition.
She said that it eliminates a condition known as "swimmer's slouch", stating: "Multisport athletes tend to swim a lot of freestyle, resulting in overdevelopment of the chest muscles.
"You can counter this slouch by working the trapezius muscles with a rowing machine or just some dumbbells and a bench."
Ms McLarty added that using the rowing machine to focus on shoulder blades through pulling weight slowly is the best way to keep posture in a prime state.
Last week, Martin McDonald of the Sun said that by doing short, sharp bursts of very intense fitness training, people could be five times as effective in burning fat than through steadier means.
