This year the British Indoor Rowing Championship (BIRC) formed the finale of a four month campaign in aid of Help for Heroes and encouraged people to row as far as they could on the rowing machine to raise as much money as possible. The total raised ended up at £21,447.12.
BIRC President Sir Steve Redgrave donated his autographed limited edition white Model C Indoor Rower as a prize for the person who raised the most money - and the winner was Alex Winchester who raised an incredible £11,251.29 for the cause and clocked up over 1 million metres on the way.
