Rowers go 'stroke for stroke' in charity challenge

Stroke for Stroke campaign 2010 challenges members of the public to row 10 km (or more) as part of their fitness training to raise vital funds for The Stroke Association.
The event also aims to raise awareness of how a healthy diet and regular exercise, such as rowing training, can help to significantly reduce the risk of suffering a stroke.
Olympic rower and gold medallist Zac Purchase is backing the campaign.
He said: "Regular exercise is a key factor in staying healthy and reducing the risk of stroke, and rowing is an ideal, all-round, low-impact workout."
The campaign will run between January 25th-31st 2010 with all proceeds going towards The Stroke Association, which funds research into stroke prevention, treatment and patient rehabilitation.
There is no excuse for not taking part - not even the lack of a rowing machine. The Stroke for Stroke campaign has teamed up with Nuffield Health to offer a free five-day pass to the health club's nationwide network of Fitness & Wellbeing Centres for everyone taking part.
The campaign, a joint initiative involving The Stroke Association and Siemens, the high performance partner of GB Rowing, is now in its third year and has raised over £70,000 to date.
