Please Support Jan Morgan

Posted by Concept2 News on the 5th of March 2012

Seal Personal Training, is entering 20 competitors in various categories into the British and European Indoor Rowing Championships. The exclusive Personal Training company from Solihull has a real enthusiasm for Indoor Rowing and company director Ali Seal is sure his clients will do themselves proud on the day. "Our clients love using the indoor rowing machine as it gives so much performance feedback and allows for so much variation in an individual's training session". One competitor in particular Jan Morgan will be competing on the day.

Imagine you lost the use of an arm over night? How would you cope?

This is what happened to Jan when she had a stroke 16 months ago. Initially her entire left side was paralysed leaving her in need of 24/7 care but she has since been successfully battling her way back to independent living. Still partly paralysed, Jan is desperate to regain the use of her left arm, an effort not funded by the NHS.

Despite her disability Jan has entered the Champs in Nottingham on March 25th alongside her friend Michaela Mueller. Together the two women need to raise £3,500 towards the cost of a device that can help Jan with moving her arm again. The H200 Hand Rehabilitation System stimulates the appropriate nerves and muscles of the forearm and hand and helps to re-educate brain signals to restore function in weak or paralysed muscles.

"This is a huge challenge for both women," says Ali Seal from Seal Personal Training who supports their training efforts, "not least because they are both rowing novices."

All moneys raised will go towards the cost of the device and any additional funds will be donated to purchase physiotherapy equipment for use by the Royal Leamington Spa Rehabilitation Hospital who care for stroke patients from the local community. Jan and Michaela's blog is now live and happy to say they've raised over £1,000 already which is fantastic - janandmichaelarowing.blogspot.com
