Posted by Concept2 News on the 18th of October 2006
Seven sixth formers from Pakistan Scout Cadet College (PSCC) in North West Frontier Province, Pakistan, will be competing as individuals and teams in this year's British IRC. The pupils are over on an exchange programme, arranged by the British Council, with Lordswood Boys' School Specialist Sports College, in Birmingham. None have been on an indoor rowing machine before!
The BIRC is the penultimate day of their visit and they will have recieved coaching from young leaders at the Sports College during the preceding week.
PSCC was hit badly during last years earthquake but, despite their own problems, pupils and staff from the Cadet College took on significant leadership roles in the relief work, helping NGOs and government agencies.
Many of the pupils go on to take commissions in the Pakistani armed forces.
