New Records

A couple of new Records, several attempts coming up and few new categories on the website this month.
Firstly, Jonathan McAvoy has broken the World Record for the 24 hour row in the 19-29 Lwt category with a distance of 263,396m, a record which may not last that long if Will Homer from the University of Southampton has anything to say about it. Will will be attempting to better Jonathan's distance this week in aid of the male cancer charity Orchid.
There are two other 24 hour record attempts due to take place in Southampton before the end of the month. This time at the Solent University Students Union with Andy Hammond and Richard Boydon going in the under 20 and 20-29 Hwt categories respectively - they will be raising money for Help for Heroes.
The other record broken this week is the 70-79 Lwt 500m by Hetta Morath of Leeds. The 500m category is one of the new "World Ranking" categories that we have just added to the British Records section of the website. The 500m, 1,000m, 30 minute and 1 hour records are all verified results taken from the online Ranking on the America Concept2 website, if anyone knows of any results, that can be verified, that beat any of these please let us know at info@therowingcompany.com
