Million Metres for 71 Year Old Heart Patient

Posted by Concept2 News on the 14th of December 2011

John Bratley is a heart patient aged 71 who currently rows at Grimsby and Cleethorpes Leisure Centres 3 days a week and twice a week at Cardio Rehab Phase 6. Training under Chris Kelly he has achieved 1,000,000 metres on an Indoor Rower having started in April this year achieving 21,230 metres on the first day in 1hour and 50 mins. On 17th June he completed 169,385m in 10 hours and 17 mins.

The end of a million metres was completd with a 33,185m row in three hours . In total the million metres took 89 hours and 28 mins and was rowed over 49 days. Is this a record for a heart patient? We don't know - has anybody else achieved anything similar?
