Marc Smith 100,000 Metre Row
Posted by Concept2 News on the 28th of July 2008
Well, I did it! I started the row, ably assisted by the Wirral Mayor just after 12 and finished some ten and a half hours later! The row went just about to plan, one hour rowing followed by a 20 minute break etc etc until the 100,000 metres was complete. I had intended to only take a 15 minute break but during the third hour I started to get some stomach cramps due to not digesting the food properly so I increased the break to 20 minutes and felt ok in all the other sessions. The last session where I was just counting down the metres instead of merely rowing for an hour clocking up the metres was sheer heaven!
Many thanks to all who came across and supported me on the night and many many thanks to all of you who have supported me in other ways, whether it be by direct sponsorship, buying raffle tickets, donating raffle prizes, discounts on my nutrition products etc; whatever way you helped me, it was greatly appreciated.
If you have sponsored me then please, if you haven't done so already, can you either pay me directly or send a cheque made payable to SUNDOWNS to SUNDOWNS, 46 Hamilton Square, Birkenhead, Wirral, CH41 5AR. If you do send a cheque into the SUNDOWNS then please can you write 100,000 metre row on the back.
Finally, on behalf of SUNDOWNS and myself, a thousand thanks. You've all helped bring some huge smiles to children like Callum and if he could type then I know he'd be on here now saying "thank you"!!
