One of Britain's greatest Olympians visited Droitwich Spa High School in May, when Dame Kelly Holmes visited the school to celebrate the anniversary of her appointments as National School Sport Champion (NSSC). As part of her visit she took the opportunity to help inspire children to take part in sports such as indoor rowing as well as seeing the steps the school has taken to encourage participation in sport and physical activity.
In her first year as NSSC, Dame Holmes has spoken to thousands of children.
"I've seen how sport has improved their confidence, enabled them to work in teams, stirred their competitive spirit and given them the joy of getting active and taking part. I fully support the challenge to give all children the opportunity to take part in more sport and physical activity."
