Junior Half Marathon Record Broken

Posted by Concept2 News on the 27th of May 2009

Will Homer, an 18 year old pupil at Rugby school is one of 4 boys that are hoping to row around the British Isles in 25 days. The current record stands at 26 days and 23 hours. The crew will begin the venture from Tower Bridge, in London on July 1st and will row anti-clockwise around Britain and Ireland. They will be rowing unaided and will have to go up against tides as strong as nine knots. Will is training for up to 3 hrs a day. They are being sponsored in part by Woodvale Challenge who normally organise rows across the Atlantic and Indian Ocean. The boys are rowing in aid of male cancer charity Orchid and are hoping to raise £100,000. To raise money for Orchid, and awareness of their around Britain Challenge, Will rowed a half marathon on a Concept2 rowing machine at Rugby School's speech day. He completed the distance in 1 hr 23 mins 16.0 secs breaking the previous British Record by just over a minute.
