Indoor Rowing at the Carmarthen Watersports Festival

Indoor Rowing proved to be a popular attraction for many visitors at last weekend's Carmarthen Watersports Festival. Displays drew large numbers of locals and their families from the surrounding area in West Wales. There were also holidaymakers taking time out at the quayside venue from all over the UK. They enjoyed watching a wide range of on water activities like raft racing, kayak demonstrations and coracle paddling which is unique to the River Towy.
But taking part is more important so back on dry land people queued to try the Concept2 Indoor Rowers. Youngsters and adults turned up and had a go, rowed a 1 minute challenge and played the ever popular Fish Game. Their ages ranged from seven year olds to those in their mid sixties. Some were handicapped, a few adults with learning difficulties and hearing impaired and blind teenagers. Indoor Rowing is fully inclusive so everyone had a great time.
Several people came back for more rowing throughout the afternoon especially to improve their distance total in the 1 minute challenge. There was even a family of six spanning three generations that had a go.
Overall, meeting civic leaders and showing what’s possible to a wider audience is another step in raising awareness of the many opportunities available for all in Welsh communities.
