How to stay in shape this winter

It can be tempting to bed-down over the winter months and turn to edible treats rather than exercise equipment, but putting on weight during the festive season is not inevitable.
Now is the time to adapt keep-fit efforts and fitness training regimes, not abandon them, points out the Guardian.
If used to outdoor activities then invest in some good quality all-weather kit so you can continue your exercise.
Or if the thought of heading out into the cold and dark does not appeal, explore indoor activities, it suggests.
Investing in your own home fitness equipment such as a rowing machine could make keeping in shape that bit easier, and warmer, this Christmas.
And although there is no need to forego the culinary delights completely, do keep your eating in check.
If a big meal is being planned, balance the day by eating smaller ones before or after.
