Henley Royal Regatta – The Invesco Perpetual Indoor Rowing Challenge
Posted by Concept2 News on the 5th of July 2007
Five local primary schools got the chance to race at Henley Royal Regatta this week on Wednesday 4th July. Fortunately they did not have to contend with the inclement conditions on the water as they were racing on Concept2 Indoor Rowers.
The race was broadcast live on Regatta Radio with parents and teachers present to provide support under a hastily erected gazebo outside the Regatta radio studio. The first and second placed boys and girls received their prizes from Olympic silver medallist Debbie Flood who has been instrumental in building interest and excitement among the pupils by running indoor rowing clubs at the schools. Financial support for the project is provided by Invesco Perpetual for which all involved are deeply grateful.
The children had a great time and really enjoyed being a part of the regatta – added to which, the winners had their first experience of being interviewed on the radio!
The Indoor Rowers were provided by Henley Rugby Club and Leander Club with Concept2 providing technical assistance.
