The recent Barcelona Grand Prix saw a thrilling race, which ran right to the wire. Then, later on in the weekend, Fernando Massa hled off Lewis Hamilto to win the Grand Prix. You see, we're talking about The Red Bulletin's ironman event for team physios and driver trainers which took place at the Kartodrom de Catalunya on Thursday 10th May
The quadrathon programme consisted of six laps of the 1.1 km circuit by bike, three kilometres on an Indoor Rower, two laps running and finally 10 laps in go-karts.
The eight competitors from seven different F1 teams were coaxed and shouted out by their drivers, while the ringmaster of the event was ex-Benetton tough guy Bernie Shrosbree, who's CV also includes a stint as British Team Manager at the World IRC.
The event was run by Spyker's Alex Leibinger, with Gabrielle Polcari of Renault second. Roger Cleary of Red Bull took third place, despite a tumble in the opening cycling event, helped in part by an excellent victory in the rowing leg, covering the three kilometres in 11:35.0.
