The risk of developing cancer can be lowered by sensible eating and staying active, one doctor has said.
General recommendations for cancer prevention include enjoying a balanced diet and taking part in fitness training, explains Dr Rachel Thompson, science programme manager at the World Cancer Research Fund.
Maintaining a healthy weight is an important factor, she continues.
Cancer Research UK also highlights the benefits of healthy eating and staying active, pointing out that eating more fruit, veg and fibre and cutting down on fat, salt and sugar are key things.
Physical activity has a positive effect on health, the body adds, with everything from a brisk walk or weeding session in the garden to hitting the gym or attending a dance class being beneficial.
It advises people to make small changes to their lifestyle, diet and fitness routine in order to lower their cancer risk.
