Eirian Whitehead's British Red Cross Artic Trek - 04/05/12 Final update
Posted by Concept2 News on the 4th of May 2012
Eirian has finished her challenge of walking across the Arctic!
She dropped us a quick email this week to let us know of her return.
"I finished the trek safe and sound last week, with just a burnt face and tendon damage in my wrist (which annoyingly means I can't row for a couple of weeks!). The rowing beforehand really did help though so thank you so much for all the help with technique and the training plan, it was really physically exhausting so the fact rowing helped my stamina was so great - I will be keeping it up once this tendon heals!
It really was amazing! Surprisingly hard though, where we had bad weather (it snowed solidly for 3 days, and did reach -20C!) we ended up going on a completely new trail, which the guides have said they will never let beginners use again as it's too hard. It's nice to know we were on a new route, but didn't help at the time, especially as I was constantly falling off."
