Corporal's A Glutton For Punishment

"The lack of water in the Afghan desert has proved no barrier to RAF corporal Karl Holder's latest challenge - to row 137 miles without going anywhere.Cpl Holder, who is normally based at RAF Innsworth, is in Afghanistan as part of the Nato International Security Assistance Force.

"While there, the 39-year-old medic from Up Hatherley, Cheltenham, decided to raise money for Macmillan nurses back home.

"So he is covering the equivalent of the distance from Cheltenham to New Quay in west Wales on a rowing machine."
