Staff from a car dealership chain are nearing the end of a charity rowing challenge that has taken fundraising efforts to cities all over Yorkshire, inspired by a two Yorkshiremen who will attempt to row the Atlantic later this year.
Teams from JCT600 garages will compete on Concept2 indoor rowing machines at the firm's Volkswagen Bradford branch this Saturday (October 17th) to see how far they can row in a 30-minute tag race.
It is the penultimate event in a string of rowing challenges which has seen them visit Hull, Sheffield, Wakefield and Leeds.
The final challenge will take place in York on October 24th.
Seventeen separate teams from the chain have signed-up to take part in the event, which will raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, the chain's charity partner.
So far they have raised almost £800 for the charity, and hope to raise £1,000 in total.
They will be joined by Alex Macdonald and Luke Grose, known as Team JCT600, who will begin the 3,000-mile Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race on December 6th.
The two are hoping to challenge the existing 40-day world record set in 2003 by the Kiwi team comprised of Jamie Fitzgerald and Kevin Biggar.
