Bernie Heaysman - Camp Bastion 09/01/12 Update

Posted by Concept2 News on the 9th of January 2012

This has proved to be a fairly flat week after the New Years Day Half Marathon. It is quite amazing just how quickly things return to 'normal'. I am still in the the gym every morning rowing 10+ Km before breakfast then work. To date my rowing distance is 941 Kms and going well. Combined with the running side of things I have covered 1621 Kms, so rowing is still the preferred option for covering the miles. I have collected $200 from the Half Marathon, which is a good result, and the money continues to trickle in from all areas.

I would like to say thank you to Concept2 for following my progress on your blog and the interest it is generating. I had a very kind person from Yorkshire who donated toward my charity, bibic.org.uk, via my just giving charity web page. I truely thank you.

I have decided on my next challenge for the coming weeks, (I think). I am looking at 50 Kms in under 5 Hours, possibly 4. I need to do some maths first and calculate some average speeds. Not the tightest of times I know, but at this stage of my rowing 'career' I don't really want to line myself up for definate failure, at least give myself a fighting chance. This will probably be scheduled in for the weekend of the 27th Jan. I shall let you know nearer the time.
