Hercules

Although it's come out in the week when it was announced that the combined viewing figures for the BBC's digital channels are slightly smaller than the combined number of BBC digital channels, an Indoor Rowing News TV Recommendation goes out to Hercules, on at 8 o'clock every night on BBC 3. If you ignore the voiceover, and especially if you ignore Paul Darrow's hammier-than-thou presentation, you're left with genuinely impressive feats of endurance and strength that makes Superstars look like a kid's egg and spoon race. This Saturday's show stars the Indoor Rower in an episode known as the Oar of Odysseus. Which is a snappier title than Rowing 70,000m on a specially modified rowing machine we grant you. Also of interest to indoor rowers is the fact that Lee Rankin, the European 30-39 Lwt champion, is currently lying in second place overall. Unfortunately, Richard Blagrove, last year's Grand Prix U23 winner, was eliminated last night, despite a valiant effort after injuring his arm on the first day.For more on Hercules: http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/hercules/
