Software Programmes

The Indoor Rowing News has never been one for computers to be honest; in fact, we haven't used one since 1987 when we turned off our BBC Micro in disgust after getting stuck for ages on the last level of Chucky Egg. However, those of you who are less suspicious of technology invented after the internal combustion engine might want to check out one of the growing range of third party software programmes.First off, there's RowPro, now in version 1.3. RowPro provides an on-water rowing simulation in true 3D, tracking each stroke you take on the Indoor Rower in real-time while you row. It also provides a large selection of competition, fitness and weight control programmes as well as advanced logging facilities and the ability to set up virtual races, using either pace boats, past rows and rows saved by other people on the Concept 2 World Ranking. At the present moment, RowPro only works with the PM2 and the PM2+, but a version designed to work with the PM3 is promised for later this month.A new programme that's just been released is ErgMonitor. The big selling point of this is that it allows users of a PM2 and PM2+ to see a force curve of their stroke in real-time on their computer screen. It also allows you to see all your statistics on the screen at the same time, including such nifty pieces of information as your Drive to Recovery ratio and your Drive length.RowPro: http://www.digitalrowing.comErgMonitor: http://www.ps-sport.net
