Leeds University 100,000m Attempt

Posted by Concept2 News on the 3rd of April 2003

Leeds University had a crack at the BUSA 100,000m record recently in an effort to raise money for Comic Relief. Steven O'Connor takes over:The event took place at the Baja Beach nightclub in Leeds. We started at about 8:15pm and finished four hours 41 minutes and 36 seconds later at 1 a.m. The team of ten was made up of rowers from both the senior and intermediate men's squads. A paramedic had to be called for one rower suffering from exhaustion. He later recovered and rejoined the team to complete the last 20 kilometres.Their new time just beats Warwick University's old record of 4:46:23, so congratulations to Leeds. A full set of records for a number of different distances can be found at http://www.therowingcompany.com/v4/brit_world_records.htm
