Reader's Letter

Posted by Concept2 News on the 9th of August 2002

Roger Jefferies: I am a teacher at Harry Carlton School, East Leake, Leicestershire. I started an indoor rowing club there last March. Since then several students, all in the 12 - 14 age bracket with no previous rowing experience, have taken up the sport. Several students have also joined the Nottingham Schools Rowing Association to gain experience on the water. But the real point of this letter is to let you know that the girls' team (of six) rowed an indoor 3,000 metres event on Thursday July the 18th. They returned a time of 11 minutes 22.9 seconds. The team was Louise Coles, Laura Brown, Jessica McCabe, Isobel Jones, Helen Lamb and Sarah Leadley. Is this a record for the age group? Can any readers claim a better time? Laura Brown and Louise Coles are entered for the Junior Section of the British Indoor Championships in November.
