Charidee Works

Posted by Concept2 News on the 5th of June 2002

More news from good souls this week. First off, Andrew Ebbage, the fitness manager at Banana Fitness in Kidderminster, managed to twist the arms of six members and two other staff for National Indoor Rowing Marathon Day back in April. Rowing on behalf of Kemp Hospice, a local cancer rehabilitation charity trying to raise money for a new unit, the seven men all managed to complete the marathon in times between 2:53 and 3:19, while the two women cracked the half-marathon in 1:40 and 1:41. With money still rolling in, they've raised over 1,250 pounds for Kemp, a fantastic achievement. A belated mention as well for Graham Matthews, who also took part in National Indoor Rowing Marathon Day, this time outside Tesco in Bognor Regis. Completing the distance in 3:45:07, Graham raised over 300 pounds for Poppy Appeal. While we're at it, if you happen to be in Dragons Health Club in Maidstone on June 15th drop some money in the hat for Steve Griva, his brother Nigel Griva and his sister Wendy Blake who will be doing a charity row in aid of the NSPCC.If you've used the machine to raise money for a good cause, we want to hear about it, so send it into webmaster@therowingcompany.com.
